Towns and settlements in the way are often forcibly annexed into the NCR, regardless of the consent of civilians. Under Kimball, a former army general, the expansion into New Vegas has been marked by aggressive, imperialistic policies. The growth has allowed Crimson Caravan to virtually monopolize caravan trade all across New California.Īs for the NCR’s role in New Vegas, which takes place forty years after Fallout 2, its governance has undergone a dramatic shift. Crimson Caravan supplies the NCR with military-grade weapons and supplies, and the Republic allows them to maintain their presence in every settlement in the nation.

The free market of the NCR has also led to the growth and rise of incredibly powerful merchant houses, such as the Crimson Caravan Company.

Upon entering office, President Kimball overturned the already-weakened regulations, which resulted in the expansion of the power of these despotic venture capitalists. Before Kimball, the NCR placed onerous regulations on powerful interest groups in New California, namely the Stockmen’s Association and the Republican Farmers’ Committee, both composed of wealthy and influential landowners and cattle barons. Under the presidency of Aaron Kimball, the NCR began a campaign to annex the Mojave Wasteland under their banner.Īs stated, the NCR is primarily run on free-market capitalism. By 2281, forty years after Fallout 2, the NCR had become the largest nation in the post-war world, comprising California and parts of Nevada and Mexico. Their establishment was hinted at the end of Fallout 1 and play a more significant role in Fallout 2. Technically, the Republic has been a part of Fallout since the beginning. Citizens of the NCR enjoy luxuries in the wasteland that are considered common today: healthcare, laws, a legitimate government, and the largest standing military in the wasteland.
